Dr Richard Grant-Thomson graduated as a dentist from the University of Queensland in 1991 and served as a RAAF Dental Officer for eight years. In 1998, he obtained Fellowship in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and was later awarded the Australian Periodontology Research Foundation Prize in 2001 for his publication on periodontal treatment. He completed his specialist qualification in Periodontics at the University of Queensland in 2002. Richard has held a range of academic and professional roles, including visiting specialist for the Department of Defence, visiting lecturer for the University of Queensland Dental School Postgraduate Periodontics program, and external examiner for the Griffith University Postgraduate Periodontics program. He is currently a supervisor in the University of Queensland’s Periodontics postgraduate program. With professional interests in periodontal regenerative surgery and dental implants, Richard is an ITI Fellow (International Team for Oral Implantology), a speaker for Straumann Dental Implants, and a registered specialist in periodontics. He is also an active member of the ADA, ASP, and ANZAP. Richard now maintains a full-time private practice while contributing to ongoing education and research in his field.
