Audience: General Dentist, Prosthodontist
Today, Digital Dentistry seems to increasingly replace conventional approaches in all aspects of the dental workflow. The speed at which Digital Dentistry has improved, from its introduction to dentistry to its current capability, is more than astonishing. These improvements involve not only the operating speed of modern digital devices, but also the impressive accuracy and increasing user-friendliness that has been achieved during the last decade. It comes as little surprise then, that digital applications and devices also found their way into Implant Dentistry. Today, its impact extends over the whole workflow of dental implants, from diagnostics to treatment planning to the design and manufacturing of dental restorations, prostheses and appliances. However, the pivotal question for each private practitioner is, whether these new devices and applications provide a real and clinically relevant benefit or constitute just expensive and fancy gadgets for the younger generation.
The aim of this presentation is to outline the integration of digital dentistry in modern implant dentistry and to evaluate and critically discuss its pros and cons throughout the complete implant workflow, from diagnostics, via treatment planning and guided surgery, to implant restoration. The clinical relevance and implications of each digital step will be discussed. Another particular focus will be crucial parameters for a predictable and successful 3-dimensional implant placement, that promotes both a functional and aesthetic restoration but also facilitates proper implant hygiene and maintenance. Thus, resulting in stable and healthy peri-implant tissues and long-term implant success.

Yttria-stabilised tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) exhibits mechanical and optical properties suitable for dental applications. Monolithic Y-TZP restorations are used to reduce the risk of chipping and decrease reduction of natural tooth. Monophase and multiphase zirconia with longitudinal gradients of chroma and translucency have been developed with the use of digital technology for matching the optical properties to those of natural dentition. However, appropriate materials selection and design optimisation must be applied in order to achieve desirable outcomes.

Restorative Options for Miniature Implants in Partial and Full Arch Cases: From Intraoral Scanning to Restoration Challenges
Speaker: Dr Omid Allan
Topics: Intraoral Scanning, Implant Prosthetics
Audience: General Dentist, Prosthodontist
The introduction of the new Ultra-narrow dental implant system, known as "Miniature Implants," marks a significant advancement in implant dentistry, particularly in full arch rehabilitation utilizing a minimally invasive approach. These implants not only facilitate the restoration of thin alveolar ridges but also diminish the necessity for extensive and invasive bone augmentation procedures. Their design streamlines the use of fixed screw-retained prostheses and promotes enhanced long-term health of peri-implant soft tissues by eliminating the microleakage and micro-pumping effects often associated with conventional implant systems. Moreover, the minimal bone drilling required for Miniature Implants minimizes patient morbidity and aids in preserving both soft and hard tissues.
The cases discussed in this article exemplify straightforward clinical solutions for full arch rehabilitations using Miniature Implants, reaffirming their long-term success. The unique features offered by Miniature implants streamline the process of full arch rehabilitation. This innovative implant system enables a seamless transition for edentulous patients from wearing complete dentures to receiving fixed screw-retained prostheses through a minimally invasive approach.
Designed in an all-in-one form, these implants simplify the restorative process for clinicians and laboratory technicians alike. Furthermore, the system facilitates a straightforward scanning technique for high-quality restoration, a pivotal factor in ensuring the long-term stability and success of the treatment.
Furthermore, the design intricacies of Miniature Implants may require specialized knowledge and expertise from both clinicians and laboratory technicians. Proper communication and collaboration between the dental team are essential to overcome these challenges and achieve optimal treatment outcomes.
In summary, Miniature Implants represent a valuable restorative option for partial and full arch cases in implant dentistry. By leveraging intraoral scanning technology and addressing restoration challenges with diligence and collaboration, clinicians can effectively harness the potential of Miniature Implants to provide patients with durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing prosthetic solutions.

Digital workflows for full arch implant-retained prosthetics
Speaker: Dr Fadi Yassmin
Full arch restorative cases using multiple implants to retain full span bridges, the so called all-on-X procedure, present unique challenges for clinicians. Accurately recording and communicating implant position to the laboratory in order to create the definitive prosthetic has presented particular challenges to the intraoral scanning systems currently in use, for example. In this session, Dr Yassmin will detail the procedure for using the Nexus iOS system that incorporates proprietary scan bodies (Nexus iOS Scan Gauges) together with AI technology to validate the accuracy of the intraoral scan in the first instance. The complete workflow will then be explained from treatment and surgical planning through to the production of temporary and definitive prosthetics using a range of technologies including DSD, VSD and exocad, all without creating a single model.

Perfect DSD veneer preparations powered by ASIGA
Speaker: Dr Fadi Yassmin
- Lecture
Porcelain veneers are the stock-in-trade of most aesthetic dentists and this lecture will review how to utilise Digital Smile Design (DSD) to predictably design, prep and place veneers that will satisfy your most discerning patient every single time. An overview of current porcelain veneer protocols incorporating the latest DSD techniques will be provided with an emphasis on the use of preparation guides. The labial depth guide, incisal guide and vestibular guide generated by the DSD software based on your smile design and 3D printed in-house using a quality 3D printing system such as from ASIGA provide the bridge between your digital design and your final restorations.
14.15 - 15.00 • Session 6
Digital workflows for full arch implant-retained prosthetics
Speaker: Dr Fadi Yassmin
- Lecture

Fast and Furious - where do innovative materials fit in our dental market?
Speaker: Dr Andrew H Ip
- Lecture
Speed sintering zirconia, milling pre-sintered/pre-crystallised ceramics, printed ceramic restorations, graphene-based polymers, 3D printed mouthguards and more! The adoption of digital dentistry in many practices and labs has led to amazing developments in the materials we use today. However, why should we care when our current materials work just fine? Should we be fixing things when they aren't broken?
