With a contemporary approach to deep caries management and an evidence-based approach to resin composite materials, adhesives and matrix systems - large direct restorations are achievable. Further, they can be a useful, conservative and durable alternative if indirect restorations are not viable.
At the conclusion of this session, you will:
- understand the current evidence base and the practical considerations for caries removal end points in the restorative management of deep carious lesions
- be confident in selecting and applying dental dam isolation to improve access and efficiency and to reduce stress
- understand current variations in enamel and dentine bonding systems and resin composite materials including flowables, injectables and bulk-fills, as well as their applications and limitations to avoid post-operative sensitivity and restorative failures
- implement various matrix systems and auxiliary methods to predictably rebuild contact points and anatomy in teeth with significant structural loss.
This online blended learning and hands-on pre-clinical session will proceed as follows:
- Online web lectures via learning management system Canvas.
- A short multiple choice questions (MCQ) to cement your knowledge on the lecture topics.
