A hands-on workshop in developing, presenting and implementing treatment plans for moderately complex cases in general practice

Treatment planning plays an essential role in gaining valid informed consent. It is a skill that challenges many dentists in private practice by posing difficulties with both clinical and administrative case management. Too often the time constraints of a busy practice rather than case needs determine how much (or little) treatment planning is done.

This course is aimed at general dentists wanting to improve their case management skills of moderately complex cases by developing and implementing a consistent treatment planning processes. Participants will be guided through an easily implemented, structured process to develop and present treatment plans for their patients. On completion they will have a “take home” framework along with supporting resources to efficiently treatment plan in everyday practice.

Topics include

  • The use of template documents, case documentation and digital data management
  • Appropriate diagnostic records, analysis and re-presentation of radiographic and photographic records
  • Formulation of provisional treatment plans covering all available treatment options
  • Formulation of the definitive treatment plan
  • Appropriate use of supporting resources
  • Incorporating treatment timelines into treatment plans
  • Multidisciplinary case management with appropriate specialist referral
  • Informed consent
