  • how to determine the appropriate aseptic technique based on the procedure, your specific circumstances and recognised standards
  • surgical hand hygiene technique options – traditional and waterless hand scrubs
  • surgical gowning and gloving techniques including safe removal
  • the importance of preparing for and ensuring support during surgical procedures
  • how to establish and maintain an aseptic field for simple and complex procedures
  • the importance of the equipment manufacturer’s instructions for use particularly for implant kits and surgical handpieces
  • strategies to reduce the risk of inhalation and ingestion of kit components.

This program covers procedures performed under local anaesthetic, not IV sedation or general anaesthetic.
