Botulinum Toxin commonly referred to as 'Botox' is an injectable medication that is used as a muscle relaxant. Since its first documented therapeutic use in ophthalmology in the late 1970s it has grown to become a multi-billion dollar world wide industry. In January 2017 the Time magazine published "How Botox Became the Drug That's Treating Everything - 800 medical uses". Today dentists have joined other health professionals in utilising Botox in the treatment of health and cosmetic problems encompassing the peri-oral region.
Dr Sheng Zhang will provide an overview on the use of Botulinum toxin in the dental context including its cosmetic and therapeutic benefits for patients.
