The science of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders have gone through explosive changes over the past five decades.

This one day course is meant to help the dental clinician to have a review of OFP and TMD; screen for these disorders; help identify ominous signs of OFP and make succinct, prompt referrals to medical colleagues; Also to help avoid the frustration of managing these conditions.

This course will consist of a half day lecture component followeed by a hands -on session which guide participants through carrying out a full TMJ examination.

Depending on the number of attendees additional oral medicine specialists with be in attendance to assist with hands oncomponent.

You will:

• have a broad understanding of Orofaial Pain and TMD
• understand the clinical screening for OFP conditions and ominous signs of pain
• learn basic cranial nerve screening
• learn basic clinical OFP examination and TMJ examination
• learn Head and neck screening in the context of OFP and TMD
• begin to understand when and to who to refer a case of OFP/TMD
