Modern Endo: The Key to Successful Treatment
Speaker: Prof Marco Martignoni
Topic: Endodontics
Audience: General Dentist
Modern endodontics provides the opportunity to obtain fast and reliable treatments mainly due to the fact that instruments used for shaping the main canal are better performing. It is necessary to have a strict relationship between technical design and mechanical properties in order to have the best performance possible weather continuous rotation is used or if reciprocating motion is chosen.
Today we can count on new designs associated with new metallurgic approaches for reaching unique results in terms of gliding and shaping. Flexibility and resistance are the key words for the new era but just as well minimally invasiveness, related to new instruments, will leave teeth that will last better to function when properly restored.
The new era of endodontics is more simple, fast and reliable but most importantly gives the chance of leaving more residual structure. The final objective of the endodontic treatment is not only to get rid of the biological tissue and of the possible infection, but to also create a new system that may be able to work properly for the designed function as long as possible after the treatment is completed.

Restorative Solutions: Simplified Approach in Modern Composites for Vital & Post-Endo Treatment
Speaker: Prof Marco Martignoni
Topic: Restorative
Audience: General Dentist
Modern adhesives offer the chance to have better performance in restoration of teeth whether they are vital or non-vital. Modern composites offer the chance of approaching both anterior restorations as well as posterior. In the anterior area they offer ideal color integration due to correct translucency and handling properties that, associated with a guided approach for design result is simple yet successful restoration of the aesthetic zone.
Posteriors are today approached in few simple steps and do not need layering in order to accomplish good combination of form and function. Endodontically treated teeth are able to behave ideally if endo treatment is correct, but also if the coronal structure is well restored.
Today’s restorative dentistry is based on modern adhesives and modern composites; yet it has to face a number of problems that will be analysed through the lecture: treatment plan in relationship to the remaining structure in anterior and in posterior teeth, the type of composite and adhesive in relation to the type of restoration adopted, color change in endodontically treated teeth and correct behaviour in cases color is an issue.
There will be clear description of the approach necessary to deal with direct restorative in all the different situations.
