Exponentially increase the value of your hygiene department

When it’s done right, having a hygienist or therapist can be a great source of additional income and support to your practice, but it can also be fraught with cancellations and no-shows. Learn how to:

Create systems and procedures to:

• Ensure patients request to see the hygienist or therapist;
• Maximise the value of the periodic hygiene visit;
• Calculate the number of hygiene days required;
• Align dentist and hygienist or therapist philosophies and diagnoses;
• Introduce a new hygienist or therapist into the practice;
• Increase patient participation in the active maintenance programme.

Communicate in order to:

• Ensure the entire team can support the hygienist or therapist and raise their profile in the patients’ eyes;
• Use Primespeak tools to turn each patient into a devoted fan and get the patient to own their oral health problems

ESSENTIAL HOMEWORK:

In order to undertake all activities in this workshop, bring along the following:

  • Number of active patients in your patient base (an active patient is one who has seen either the dentist or the hygienist or therapist within the past 18 months – if they have been at the practice more than once, they still only count as one). Contact your software company or call your Prime Practice Coach (if you have one) if you have difficulty determining this.
    - Number of 114’s (scale/polish) in the last 6 months
    - Number of 114’s (scale/polish) booked ahead in the next 6 months
CPD Accreditation

Australian clinicians are required to make their own assessment as to the number of hours of Non-Scientific Continuing Education each course provides. This course is eligible for NZDA CPD points. Prime Practice guarantees courses are compliant with the current Dental Board of Australia Guidelines on Continuing Professional Development.  Number of accredited CPD hours depends on the length of the workshop.
